There are numerous hackers who regularly hack into people's WhatsApp accounts. Why do they hack people's WhatsApp accounts, you may wonder. What do they do with the account? The solution is that they hijack your WhatsApp account to gain access to all of your WhatsApp groups, which they then use to promote their internet business. As a result, there is a first option to prevent your WhatsApp account from being hijacked. You must enable two-step verification.
Below are the steps to follow to activate two-step verification.
- Open your WhatsApp app.
- Tap on the three vertical dots at the top, right beside the search bar.
- Select settings
- Select account
- Choose two-step verification.
- Tap on 'turn on'
- Choose any 6-digit pin that you can recall.
- Then confirm it by re-entering the pin you chose.
- Enter your email and confirm it.
If you notice that someone other than yourself is using your WhatsApp account, it is likely that your account has been hijacked. This occurs when your contacts begin getting WhatsApp messages that you did not send. In WhatsApp groups that you did not create, you see status updates and posts. If you see this, try to log out of all connected devices.
How to log out of all linked devices
- Tap on the three vertical dots at the top, right beside the search bar.
- Tap on the WhatsApp Web
- Log out of all devices
If you experience the same problem, follow the below steps.
- Open your WhatsApp app.
- Tap on the three vertical dots at the top, right beside the search bar.
- Select settings
- Select account
- Tap on the delete my account.
- After deleting your account, log in again by using the same number that was hacked.
- Enter the 6-digit pin that WhatsApp will send to you.
This quickly logs you into your account and automatically logs out the hacker. If you are requested to submit a two-step verification code, even if you did not set one up, it signifies that the person using your account has activated one. Because you do not have the code, you must wait 7 days before signing in without the two-step verification code.
Remember how the hacker was logged out instantly after you entered the 6-digit SMS code? So don't be concerned. During this time, the hacker is unable to communicate with your contacts or gain access to your WhatsApp account. Set up a two-step verification code if you haven't previously in order to avoid hacking.
